[Denver, CO]: National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP) celebrates the ten-year anniversary of their Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition (BCHN) Credential, the highest level of professional recognition and validation of knowledge and experience in the holistic nutrition industry.

“BCHN is the first - and only - of its kind in standardizing the necessary education and exam rigor for professionals who work in our industry,” said Nicole Hodson, NC, BCHN, a graduate of Bauman College and the Executive Director of the NANP. “To earn this valuable designation, you must demonstrate an exceptional level of knowledge and understanding of holistic nutrition by passing the board exam and documenting client contact hours.”

Board certification lends credibility to holistic nutrition practitioners who meet the educational and ethical standards required by a professional credentialing body. Hodson believes this credential has been a meaningful change in supporting the whole of holistic health professionals.

Celebrating the ten-year anniversary of BCHN is an important milestone that has come with many advances in the field since its inception. For starters, new opportunities and doors have opened for those who are board-certified. Doctors, wellness companies, state/federal agencies, schools, corporations, supplement manufacturers/distributors, and more are taking note of this important designation.

“Today, board certification is widely recognized as the gold-standard for professionals in our field,” said Hodson. With hundreds of board-certified members across the United States, the NANP professional association is positioned to showcase the educational and professional qualifications of holistic nutrition practitioners. This designation brings members to the NANP from many different training backgrounds and unifies the profession under strict standards and adherence to a legal scope of practice and professional conduct.

“We are excited to celebrate the decennial of BCHN. The NANP and its members have striven to advance this achievement. Board certified members have made this certification work for them personally, for growing their practices, and for expanding the industry as a whole. Where previously individual certificates or degrees from numerous institutions were more difficult to explain and elevate in stature when speaking to prospective clientele and allied healthcare practitioners, the BCHN is one set of standards, one rigorous certification, and one unifying designation,” said Barbara Rogers, NC, RWS(2), BCHN, President of the NANP.

The 2022 HEALCon conference and expo in San Diego, California, will feature a special 10-year BCHN anniversary recognition as a part of the annual membership meeting.
