REG´ACTIV™ contains the probiotic catalyst Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3. In 1995, microbiologist Marika Mikelsaar, MD, PhD, and her team of research scientists at the University of Tartu, Estonia, isolated this distinctive probiotic strain. ME-3 has been called a “complete glutathione system” because of its ability to produce glutathione 3 ways: It synthesizes glutathione itself, it extracts available glutathione from its surrounding environment, and it recycles oxidized glutathione back to its active state.
Glutathione, the “master antioxidant,” is the most prevalent and significant antioxidant in humans. Glutathione is produced in virtually every cell of the body, but these levels decline naturally with age. Free radical effects and exposure to common environmental toxins also contribute to declining glutathione levels. EFI’s research has noted that ME-3 can promote healthy glutathione levels, thus providing powerful antioxidant support.
